PAGE Georgia Academic Decathlon, which began in 1987, focuses on the importance of developing well-rounded individuals and provides an antidote to intellectual apathy and underachievement. This program provides incentive for average students, underachieving students, above-average students as well as academically talented students, to become interested in intellectual activities. Georgia Academic Decathlon opens the door to academic achievement for all students.

News from 2009 USAD National Competition in Memphis, Tennessee, April 22-25
Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe High School from Catoosa County, the GAD 2009 state champions competed in the 2009 United States Academic Decathlon national competition in Memphis, Tennessee April 22 – 25. The Georgia champions earned a 4th place finish in Division 3, and scoring higher than any other first time school at USAD nationals, they earned the title, Rookie of the year.
They finished 17th overall in the nation, which is two places higher in national rank than Georgia finished last year (even though that was a different school). Earning divisional national level recognition on their first outing at USAD nationals, the LFO team accomplished quite an honor. Georgia has never before had a divisional finish in the top four at USAD nationals.
The 2009 USAD national champion was Moorpark High School from California. The Georgia team and the California team became friends during the days of competition and the California team with along with their coach, Larry Jones were the first people on their feet cheering when the Georgia team was named Rookie Team of the Year. It was an incredible moment.

2009 State Finals Video Highlights
