2009 SPAGE Annual Business Session

The 2009 SPAGE Annual Business Session was held during the 2009 PAGE Summer Conference.  During the Business Session, SPAGE members elected the slate of 2009-2010 state officers and participated in a special workshop, "Powerful Parent Partnerships" presented by Dr. Angie Gant of Truett-McConnell College.  The conference was held June 19-21 at the Crowne Plaza Ravinia (near Perimeter Mall) in Atlanta.  The SPAGE Business Session was on Saturday, June 20 at noon.  More details about the conference and the business session are below.

2009 SPAGE Annual Business Session and Officer Elections
During the conference on Saturday, June 20, at noon, SPAGE held its annual business meeting.  State SPAGE officers were elected at that time.  All SPAGE members in good standing were eligible to run for the offices.  Following are the results from the election:

  • President - Tabitha Orander, Augusta State University
  • First Vice President - Roslynn Stewart, Mercer University
  • Second Vice President - Antaleta Chandler, Georgia Perimeter College
  • Secretary - Kimberly Medina, Kennesaw State University
  • Parliamentarian - Amanda Boone, Valdosta State University
  • Graduate Delegate - Wayne F. Clayton III, Mercer University
  • Past President (automatic appointment) - April Randall, Mercer University

Only active members of SPAGE in good standing were eligible to vote, nominate or run for office in any election of SPAGE.  Candidates must be present at the Annual Business Meeting in order to be elected. The state SPAGE officers serve as an advisory board to guide in the work of the statewide organization.  There are no specific requirements or duties of the officers other than the eligibility requirements listed above.  Understanding the demanding schedules and various geographic locations of our officers, we have streamlined the responsibilities of the officers.  The slate of officers work as an advisory board who meet primarily via conference call once or twice per year.  SPAGE officers are invited to all statewide PAGE events, and their expenses are paid for by the PAGE Foundation at most of these.  Attendance is encouraged, but not mandatory.  (Most officers come because they're extremely beneficial and enjoyable.)
